Code of Ethics The Academic Quarterly of Historical  Perspective & Historiography


It is requested from all the faculty members, researchers and post-graduate students who submit their articles through the Academic Quarterly of History of Islam & Iran’s system to study accurately the following ethical instruction and be assured to fulfil all the demanding conditions. It is certain that the negligence on each item of the instruction could lead to the appropriate legal proceeding.

Item 1:

The editorial board of the Quarterly has the abundant sensitivity against plagiarized articles[1]. Therefore, if a person(s) submits an article in which could be categorized as plagiarism, the editor-in-chief is allowed to take the essential legal proceedings. The editorial board is in authority to recognize plagiarism.


Online plagiarism checker softwares( are used to detect similarities between the submitted manuscripts and other published papers.

Item 2:

The extracted articles from the Thesis’s must be submitted with the coordination and written permission of The Advisor.

Note: Based on the written request of The Advisor withdrawing his name from the article, the student could submit it independently to journal’s office.

Item 3:

The corresponding author in extracted articles from the Thesis’[2] in any case would be The Advisor. Unless, referred to the mentioned note in item 2 it had been declared by him in written form.

Note: In Thesis’, on no condition the student is not allowed to submit the article without The Advisor’s permission. 

Item 4:

Using the names of irrelevant persons to the Thesis (except The Advisor and Reader) in extracted articles from it, is considered as a fraud and will be prosecuted.

Item 5:

The person whose name in any case is printed next to the producers of a scholarly paper, is responsible for it. Declaring ignorance of the process leading to the production of the paper, under any condition would not acceptable.

Item 6:

It is considered as a fraud to submit an article simultaneously to two or more journals. Once  detecting, the editorial board is allowed to reject it from agenda, imposes the offender financially in proportion to the operating costs or withdraw any paper of the offending author(s) untill their expediency of time (at last 3 years).

Item 7:

Each article must be evaluated at least by two reviewers, but in any case the editorial board is allowed to accept or withdraw the articles according to the journal’s policies.

Note: In especial cases, the editorial board or editor- in- chief’s comment can be considered as one of the reviews.

Item 8:

If the editorial board - for any reason - couldn’t determine the article within the 6 months, the author(s) is allowed to declare the cancellation through the written request and submit the manuscript to another journal.

Item 9:

 The author(s) is required to contribute some parts of the review and probable publication costs of the paper in accordance with the journal’s instruction. At the present time costs include:

  • Review: 1.500,000 IRR
  • Editing, Typesetting, Page – Layout and Publication: 1,500,000 IRR

Item 10:

A sole author is not allowed to submit more than 2 simultaneous papers. The Advisor or Reader (Thesis or Dissertation) are able to submit 3 papers at the same time (shared with the student) for evaluating and reviewing. (Simultaneous submitting refers to the proposed 6 months’ time frame in Item 8)

Note: All the processes of refereeing, revisions, acceptance or rejection and so forth of the articles will be declared to all authors through the journals system of Alzahra University.


 Item 11:


  Identification of unethical behavior

 · Misconduct and unethical behavior may be identified and brought to the attention of the editor and publisher at any time, by anyone.

  ·  Misconduct and unethical behavior may include, but need not be limited to, examples as outlined above. 

 ·  Whoever informs the editor or publisher of such conduct should provide sufficient information and evidence in order for an investigation to be initiated. All allegations should be taken seriously and treated in the same way, until a successful decision or conclusion is reached


Reviewers’ responsibilities

  To contribute to the decision-making process, and to assist in improving the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively, in a timely manner

  To maintain the confidentiality of any information supplied by the editor or author. To not retain or copy the manuscript.

  To alert the editor to any published or submitted content that is substantially similar to that under review. 

  To be aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author) and to alert the editor to these, if necessary withdrawing their services for that manuscript.


  Authors’ responsibilities

  To maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and to supply or provide access to these data, on reasonable request. Where appropriate and where allowed by employer, funding body and others who might have an interest, to deposit data in a suitable repository or storage location, for sharing and further use by others.

  To confirm/assert that the manuscript as submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. Where portions of the content overlap with published or submitted content, to acknowledge and cite those sources. Additionally, to provide the editor with a copy of any submitted manuscript that might contain overlapping or closely related content. 


 To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. To obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources.

  Authors should ensure that any studies involving human or animal subjects conform to national, local and institutional laws and requirements (e.g. WMA Declaration of Helsinki, NIH Policy on Use of laboratory Animals, EU Directive on Use of Animals) and confirm that approval has been sought and obtained where appropriate. Authors should obtain express permission from human subjects and respect their privacy.

  To declare any potential conflicts of interest (e.g. where the author has a competing interest (real or apparent) that could be considered or viewed as exerting an undue influence on his or her duties at any stage during the publication process).

  To notify promptly the journal editor or publisher if a significant error in their publication is identified. To cooperate with the editor and publisher to publish an erratum, addendum, corrigendum notice, or to retract the paper, where this is deemed necessary. 


Double blind peer review

The publication uses a two-way secret arbitration process to evaluate all articles.


 This is the most restrictive license in the six core licenses, which only allows others to subtract and distribute the effect until there is no change in the effect and commercial use of it.



 [1]. A: plagiarized article refers to a manuscript in which the whole or some parts are extracted from another academic work and has not been cited in accordance with the scholarly criteria. This action is considered as plagiarism (academic stealing), after the proof (by the complaint of the work’s producer or not) could lead to subsequent legal proceedings against the person(s).

 B: Text Recycling (known as self-plagiarism) is said to an academic fraud in which the author quotes the whole or some parts (at least 30%) of the current writing from his own previous articles without rendering the specifications of the published book or article.

  C: Translation or free adaption of the articles written in other languages, if it was submitted as a producing article (without mentioning translation, adaption or so on) would be considered as plagiarism.

 [2]. The extracted article from the Thesis refers to an article in which at least the 50% of its content is in conformity with the Thesis’s subjects.
