Abstract

 Memoir writing which has been customary in many countries became popular at the time Qajar in Iran. One considerable feature of Iranian society during the Qajar period, especially after the Constitutional Revolution, was the distribution of king’s power and participation of elites in politics instead. Consequently, many of those retired elites began to write down their memoir of their political life. Mustashar-al-DulaSadigh and Ehtesham-alSalatane, two senior politicians from Constitutional era, were among those who began to write down their anecdotes. Both held different political positions during their career as ambassador, Member of Parliament and minister and gained a great deal of invaluable experiments . Unfolding vague facts and complicated political events, the content of these memoirs also would be a great help for historiography and memoir writing studies in Iran. The present article aims to study these two memoirs to see the differences and similarities in their applied method, style, motivation and historical viewpoints.
