چکیده

درباره‌ی تاریخ سیاسی جوامع مختلف بسیار نوشته می‌شود، ولی در اکثریت قریب به اتفاق موارد، این تاریخ‌نگاری‌ها بر تعریف مشخص و موجهی از تاریخ سیاسی استوار نیست.به بیان دیگر، در اکثر این‌گونه کتاب‌ها و مقالات چیستی تاریخ سیاسی مفروض گرفته می‌شود، بی‌آنکه درباره‌ی این فرض سخنی به میان آید.در موارد اندکی هم که تعریفی از تاریخ سیاسی داده می‌شود، معمولاً تعریف از حد توضیح واضحات فراتر نمی‌رود.به علت این بی‌توجهی یا کم‌توجهی به تعریف و توجیه مفهوم تاریخ سیاسی، بنیاد و معیار معتبری برای ارزیابی این سنت پژوهشی و آثار منتشر شده شکل نمی‌گیرد.کاستی و ابهام در زمینه‌ی مفهوم‌سازی و روشمندی هم باعث می‌شود که مرز میان تاریخ سیاسی و تاریخ غیرسیاسی بیش از پیش به هم ریزد.
با توجه به اینکه مرز میان علم و شبه علم روشمندی حاصل از تعریف مشخص و موجه موضوع است، هدف این مقاله تعریف تاریخ سیاسی به منزله‌ی تاریخ تحول قدرت سیاسی نهادینه شده در قالب دولت و توجیه آن تعریف است تا با موضوعیت بخشیدن به چنین بحثی، توجه مورخان و پژوهشگران را به ابهام‌ها و آشفتگی‌های موجود در این حوزه‌ی پژوهشی و اهمیت تلاش برای سامان دهی نسبی آن جلب کند.

چکیده [English]

Much is written about various societies’ political history, but in the vast majority of cases this type of historiography does not include many conceptual or methodological discussions about political history. To further elaborate, in majority of books and articles, political history is something that is usually just assumed, without any in-depth discussions on this topic. Even in cases where political history is something that is mentioned, it is usually not discussed beyond a simple definition or a clarification. As a result, political history –as a sub discipline- is confronting critical epistemological and methodological problems. Moreover, shortcomings and ambiguities in context and methodical discussions have caused the muddling of barriers between political history and non-political history. Additionally, it is clear that the line between a discipline and a sub discipline is based on, and requires valid definitions on the subject. This paper attempts to define political history as an evolution of institutionalized political power in form of the government and connect its findings to various discussions. Furthermore shedding some light on these weaknesses, can provide valuable contributions to the field, and attract a catalyst for improvements.
